UK Small
Business Marketing
I'm
going to keep a list of small business marketing tips
here, just from number 1 to whatever we reach. Please
feel free to suggest a few tips by contacting me here.
I'll update this page regularly.
#1
- Monitor your advertising to see what works. I can't
stress this enough. If you don't know how many leads or
customers a certain piece of advertising is bringing in
you can spend lots of your bdget on advertising that just
isn't working for you. Stick with what ads bring in work
and dump the ones that consistently dissapoint you.
How
can you monitor your advertising? You can simply ask the
customers how they heard about you when they call or email
you. You can have several phone lines and email addresses
and then use only one phone line/ email address in each
advert. That way people contacting you through "phone
1" and "email 1" come from "advert
1" and so on. There's a multitude of ways to track
visitors to your websites as well.
#2
- If you're sending out letters to other businesses
in your area, to promote your company always address the
letter to someone in that compnay. If you just send it
to "Company XYZ" then it will be opened and
read by a secetary who will probobly put it in the bin.
If you send it to "John Doe, Company XYZ" Then
John will read it after the secatary puts it in his inbox.

3 - When starting a new business, or a new marketing
campaign, or even a new project you should make a business
plan. The plan should take into account the profit/losses
you expet to make, the competition, and the realistic
number of customers that are interested.
